From BMW Motorrad:

"This year, we’re making GS Trophy history and you’re invited! Not only is it the first time the event will be held in Montagu and the first time it’s been extended to 4 days, it’s also the first time ever that all BMW Motorrad enthusiasts have been invited to join.

There will be riding activities for non-GS owners to enjoy, and plenty of local attractions and pubs – so it truly is for everyone."

To join, follow these steps:

Join us in a fun day of training.  Attending these training days will ensure you to become a more relaxed and safer rider.

The Level 1, 2 and pillion Off Road training is as per BMW standards. We prefer and recommend riders to do Level 1 first and then move to Level 2.  This way we know they have learned the basics.  We recommend riders with a new bike to do a refresher of Lev 1 or 2 depending on their riding abilities as each bike have its own bonding space and dynamics.

Accommodation around Malgas, Napier & Struisbaai

Hey guys! Any advice on simple and cheap overnight accommodation in the region between Malgas, Napier & Struisbaai?

I'm riding from George to CPT next week and want to do 50/50 tar and gravel through Malgas (for the ferry) and one night sleep over.

Anyone stayed in Suntouched Inn in Napier?

Also any advice/warnings on my route would be greatly appreciated.

ften on our off days we look for gravel routes between farms and take a morning out for 3 to 4 hours.

We had a few dead ends this day because we were using Google Maps...we have since learned about Tracks4Africa

This trip is a “gates trip”, because – in essence – we were trying to answer that one burning question: “Is there really a locked gate?”

Our tracks therefore consisted of many double-backs, tortuous twists and rerouting. As the map apps like to say: Recalculating!!

And then there are the places where only a GPS can help…
