From BMW Motorrad:

"This year, we’re making GS Trophy history and you’re invited! Not only is it the first time the event will be held in Montagu and the first time it’s been extended to 4 days, it’s also the first time ever that all BMW Motorrad enthusiasts have been invited to join.

There will be riding activities for non-GS owners to enjoy, and plenty of local attractions and pubs – so it truly is for everyone."

To join, follow these steps:

Ann's Villa & Zuurberg – a day trip

GeelKameel's picture

Points: 5

I heard about Ann's Villa at the foot of the Zuurberg pass quite a number of times and included it in a long trip during December 2015. When I first saw Ann's Villa during that trip, I was intrigued by the old Victorian style building. I knew that there was a museum that I would have liked to see. However, on that day all seemed to be quiet and deserted. I had to ride on without seeing more than a passing view, but a re-visit went onto my bucket list.

Club beginners gravel ride to Greyton Sunday 12th January 2020

Points: 0

For anyone interested....the club is taking a beginners off road ride to Greyton on the 12/1/20.

Ride leader is Steve Jones

This will be an easy gravel ride to Greyton.

We meet at 8.15am(leave at 8.30am) by the BP garage on the Sir Lowry side of Somerset West on the N2.

All bikes welcome....including pillions.

We will go from the BP garage up Sir Lowry pass to Botriver, where we will have a short chat and let down tyre pressures. This is an easy very good gravel road to Greyton over the Van der Stel pass.

Who is up for an overnight stay on top of the mountain on 16th November?

We will ride on the railway service road to Darling, then on gravel roads to Hopefield and Aurora before the 15km ride up the mountain to Mountain Mist.  The mad woman at Mountain Mist is now gone, and the new owner is a mensch.

We will stay in the cottages at Mountain Mist, chill in the bush pool and have a braai in the evening (bring your own chop 'n dop).  On Sunday we ride back on dirt to Malmesbury where we join the N7 to head home.

Overview of the Route

When Cecil Hill asked me to join a group of friends from the club for a 3-week trip to the Kaokoveld, I agreed in a flash.  Although, at the time of asking the trip was a year in the future, soon the trip was upon us and other plans had crept in.  In particular, on the day of departure from Cape Town, I had to be in Pretoria as part of the GS Trophy adjudicating team.

So the route for me ended up looking like this:
