First ride on the Rally: going Postal (and other by-ways)*
What do you do if you do not have the skill to follow your crazy partner on all the tracks he wants to explore? Downsize. My 17-year-old 650GS, tired of getting bits smashed off it at frequent intervals, has handed the baton on to a young upstart: a new Honda 250L Rally.
My Date with Fate: back to Hell
Prologue
I have a bone to pick with Die Hel. Actually, it picked one of my bones. Now, almost 2 years later, I was going to take my healed self back there. My insurance: TITS (Time In The Saddle). My reinforcements: Lance, Ilse and Gerhard. Die Hel still held a grudge and levelled a curse at my bike this time, rather than me. Yet I managed to make it out (eventually).
Trip report : Sunday GS day ride
I hope that those on the trip post some pictures.
This was the first off road day ride for 2013 and judging by the amount of names on the list it was going to be very popular as well.
At 35 names I stopped counting as I was sure that there would be lots of cancellations, as there often are. I was notified of some cancellations and we finally ended with 30 bikes on the Ride.
I had changed the departure time to enable us to enjoy our lunch (snacks) and a swim on a farm in the Ladismith district.
Boland, Klein Karoo Routes in Excellent Condition
Relax! This is NOT a trip report, just a quick mention that the route via Ouberg Pass (Montagu), Anysberg, Rouxpos, Seweweekspoort to Oudtshoorn, followed by the Swartberg Pass to Prince Albert is in superb riding condition.
McGregor Getaway
So, ever since the beginners ride with Andy a couple of weeks back, I have had this itch to get back to the gravel.
Well, last week presented the oppertunity for just such a trip, I was in need a break, before I go postal on my co-workers. Friday afternoon after lunch I set off to McGregor....
