Please get yourself (and your pillion) ready to attend the club meeting with your 2 wheeled actually is a motorcycle meeting smileylaugh

Watch this will be a club meeting with a surprise...just holding thumbs for a starry night, good weather and a visible full moon.

As a teaser:  A shortened agenda and the outride directly thereafter.

Meeting will be from 19:00 - 19:30   If the weather plays along, we will not have the normal braai and "kuier" at the clubhouse.... We will take a short outride directly after the meeting to a spectacular view point for a full moon picnic.... keep guessing....more news on this will follow shortly.

Here goes:

The convoy will leave the clubhouse directly after the meeting to a mystery destination for a picnic from your own picnic basket.  Pack some nibbles, drinks, flask of coffee or anything of your liking. For your comfort also bring along a picnic blanket / camping chair.  A torch for some light.

The ride will be ± 20 kms to the mystery view point. ALL TAR. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate any other vehicles than your motorcycles.

TAKE NOTE: This event is weather permitted.  IF the weather very bad and unpleasant, the meeting at the clubhouse will still start from 19:00 and you are, still, welcome to bring your picnic basket.

On 31 Jan 2018 there will be a second full moon for January. It called a Blue moon.  A blue moon is an additional full moon that appears in a subdivision of a year: either the third of four full moons in a season, or a second full moon in a month of the common calendar.

The phrase has nothing to do with the actual color of the moon, although a literal "blue moon" (the moon appearing with a tinge of blue) may occur in certain atmospheric conditions: e.g., if volcanic eruptions or fires leave particles in the atmosphere of just the right size to preferentially scatter red light.[1]

NB NB NB:  Please note that the offical meeting starts at 19:00 at the Bowls Clubhouse, Parow, due to the outride.  Be in time...ready to rock n roll.  See you all.

Please accept my apology for not attending the Club's first 2018 meeting/ride. I do not normally come to the meeting on 2 wheels (as I have noticed 80% of the members also do in the past 10 yrs I have now been a member).

I am unfortunately engaged with other commitments until 19.00 on our meeting day which I cannot change on such unexpected short notices. I  normally only arrive at the meetings at about 19.30.

So, I will have to miss this one.

Maybe we should think of having our normal club meetings as scheduled, apart from the rides now being pushed/scheduled in on short notice during meetings. Just a thought.

Will you please enter my apology.

Hope you enjoy your ride. Will read next months minutes.

Hi Jacques and anyone else who feels uncomfortable with the arrangements:

I'm sure your apologies will be noted.

Just for the record:  this "meeting/ride" was discussed by the committee and approved by the chairman.  It is an exception to the rule and won't be an ongoing thing.  Unfortunately none of us will be able to enjoy the pleasures of nature as this exceptional moon phase will only happen in a 150 years from now, again.  I, for sure, will miss it, but I don't have to this round.

We had a very successful moon ride in Jan 2016, which fell on a Saturday.  34 bikes attended. A similar event was requested.

The next full moon will only be on 2 March 2018 which will be an ordinary full moon and not a SUPER BLUE BLOOD MOON ECLIPSE as forecasted for 31 Jan 2018.  On this night there will be a total lunar eclipse in some areas, mostly in North America, Asia & Australia.

So, if you feel adventurous and the weather plays along, join us. Unfortunately I cant guarantee anything.

Sometimes in life one should use opportunities, be adventurous, seize the moment, live life as tomorrow is not given....  even if you have to "squeeeze" it in......

Tnx. Enjoy. Will still not be able to come. Will have to watch the moon from my patio. Unfortunately I cannot squeeze this one in. I have missed lots of opportunities in life due to unforeseen arrangements. But, that is life and I have dealt with it. Like this one. The moon will still shine on us. Overcast or not.

Enjoy the ride.

Thank you to the committee and Anna-Marie for this wonderful experience. This was really great surprise to me as I expected a picnic in a field somewhere, not on the top of the hill at Bloemendal with the exceptional view and great company.

As Bloemendal is currently closed, this is not something that you can experience on your own at present, so thank you very much for all the "string pulling" to obtain permission for us to go up. Your efforts are not going unnoticed.

I really aimed to attend, but the finals of the Red Bull King of the Air kite-surfing competition won out on the list of things to do (it ended shortly after 7pm). Nevertheless, a thanks to the committee for organising these special events. I hope I'll be able to attend the next one.

Thank you Francois.  Always a pleasure to spoil the club members.  No greater thank you than to see all the smiles.  I can always with confidence convince someone to have the BMW MCCape on their premises due to their good behaviour and respect they show towards nature. We are blessed
