(Full) BMW MCC : Transkei Wild Coast Off Road Tour : 5th - 14th August : All welcome : Only 6 days leave
So you have heard about the Transkei?
You have probably also heard about the Wild Coast?
Well here is your opportunity to visit the fantastic "Transkei Wild Coast" with a group of like minded Motor Cycle enthusiasts over the period 5th to 14th August. The Tour has also been planned in such a way that it will be "passenger" friendly with loads of time to relax, go horse riding, walk on the beach, visit the Coffee Shops in Coffee Bay, enjoy cocktails at the beach bar or just relax and do nothing.
Even the daily distances have been planned in such a way that you will reach your destination still feeling fresh and that you and your passenger could do a few hundred more kms. The longest days ride is 568kms.
If you can ride your bike on a dirt "road" then you can do this Tour.
We will have 3 rest days. On two of these days there will be short outrides planned for those wanting to join me to enjoy some lovely scenery.
All our Hotel bookings will be on a DB&B basis.
Our route is as follows :
- Day 1) Depart Cape Town for a nice easy ride to Tsitsikamma where we spend our first night.
- Day 2) Our longest day at 568kms. We leave the Garden Route and head via Port Elizabeth and East London to Kei Mouth Here we cross the river on the ferry before riding the 17Kms to our Hotel a stone's throw away from the beach.
- Day 3) Today is a rest day and we have nothing planned. I recommend you do the short "Gates" walk offered by "Trevors Trails". Only takes a few hours and even the unfit will make it easily.
- Day 4) We leave our Hotel for a short ride to our next destination. Here we will arrive in time for lunch. Afterwards you can unpack and have the rest of the day at your leisure.
- Day 5) Rest day at your leisure. There will be a short outride to the beautiful "Shixini River Mouth" if you wish to join us. Or go horse riding, walk to the river mouth or enjoy Cocktails in the Beach Bar.
- Day 6) Wake up and smell the Coffee. No not that Coffee, Coffee Bay, that is our destination for today.
- Day 7) A day at your leisure. You can visit the Coffee Shops of Coffee Bay or if you are adventurous visit one of the many Back Packer's there.
There will be an outride today to view some of the surrounding attractions should you choose to join us. - Day 8) Today we "turn and burn" as we start heading home. Our destination after a shortish ride will be in the Cintsa Area again a mere stone's throw from the beach.
- Day 9) Back to Tsitsikamma for our last night's accommodation.
- Day 10) Home sweet home.
Cost of the 10 day Tour will be R7750.00 per person sharing. Add approximately 30% to this price if you would like your own room.
So here we have a fantastic Tour with the opportunity to bring your partner along with you to enjoy what the "Wild Coast" has to offer. It is also suitable for all riders who are comfortable riding reasonably good, well used dirt roads.
The riding pace will also suit these riders so speed will not be an issue.
Space is limited at this very special price.
To book please send me a mail on russell@aroma.co.za confirming your attendance and supply me both your and your partners names. Once bookings are confirmed I will request a 50% deposit.
I look forward to your bookings.
Hi Geoff
I am interested, but currently I do not have a bike. No idea when I will have it back.....
Buy a new one Du Toit.....it's only money.
Wow, Geoff, what a fantastic trip!!!
Wish I could get off work to join you on this tour. The Transkei Wild Coast is an absolute must for any dirt road biker. The roads are fantastic and so easy. Many people think the Transkei is a place to avoid, but boy o boy , are they wrong. Beautiful scenery and friendly people. Not sure where you are going to stay, but if places like Tsitsikama Village Inn, Crawford Cabins, Trennery's, Kobb Inn, Ocean View Hotel is on the cards, the group is in for a real treat.
Enjoy the tour!!
What a pity you can not join us Herman.
This Tour is specifically aimed at riders who would not be able to join us because of the "difficulty" factor of our Extreme Transkei Tour. This one is specially offered for those people who are easily capable of riding good dirt roads and either want to bring their partners or just want to enjoy a really relaxing ride and holiday.
Accommodation is at our "old favorites" as usual.
You will be missed.
We only need 3 more bookings to run this fantastic Tour.
Please spread the word among your fellow riders.
I have been asked if we are visiting "Hole in the Wall" in the Coffee Bay area.
The answer is yes, definitely.
Last ride worth mentioning was Lesotho a year ago, this trip sounds more my time of thing but unfortunately the duration pushes my annual leave balance out - gotta make time for travel with the Mrs who will simply NOT get on the bike. Maybe one day........before someone fixes the hole in the wall!
What a pity Craig, this Tour would be right up your alley.
Hope things change so that you can join us.

Shew! I really wish I could be on this trip, but I will be away in China! Having been surprised a few years back by the Extreme Wild Coast Tour, (where I spent half my time wishing I could just have 1 rest day because the guys liked to do outrides even on their rest days ) I would really love to experience the Wild Coast in a Laid Back Fashion - I see this trip is filled with rest days, sunrises and sunsets - opportunities to take photos and enjoy the scenery and fantastic hospitality of the Wild Coast.
You will not be sorry - this is an experience of a lifetime! A trip like this forms its own dynamic and I can only say that I have good memories from both trips I have been on.
It would have been fantastic if you could have joined us Anne.
I am hoping that Anna-Marie and Renette are joining us both of these ladies have wanted to do this Tour for ages.
Just been asked if a GS650 (single) will make this Tour.
Absolutely. If you can ride on a reasonable, well used dirt road the GS650 it will handle the Tour with ease.
MMMM Pity I cannot make it.
Annie is in China for that month and I have to keep the home fires burning.
Wild coast is epic beauty and those overnight places are fantastic..
Wish I had the time to take off.
I missed out last year but the three I have done already were absolutely fantastic rides.
Enjoy it, you will not be let down.
Eish Andy............my mechanic and medic gone in one blow!!!!!
Please keep your phone on for me!!!
I will Geoff, and I wish I could wangle to come along. This is such a lekker trip.
And you have an interesting group. wow, lots of pillions.
Most pillions ever on an off road trip Andy.
This is going to be more of a "holiday" and I am so glad so many of the partners are joining us to see that they to can enjoy these rips with us. Wish their were more lady riders as they would also enjoy the relaxed pace of this ride.
We have had a couple withdraw due to "injuries" so there is space available for a couple.
Hi Geoff
trying my hand at this "Forum Thing"..... Just bought a set of Panniers for our trip! Must now just fit them - have asked for some info on the Forum, will let you know.
Congratulations Jacques.
If Google fails your next best advice would probably be Chris from Flying Brick.
Hi Geoff, can you kindly confirm whether I am in on this tour?
Thx! Du Toit
Updated
Just for the record: I have indeed paid!
Eish Du Toit........I was hoping you would pay twice to pay for the "Strafdoppe".
Only 1 more sleep!!
Wil julle daar in die koue Kaap net laat weet: dit gaan moerse lekker op ons trip!
