Trips and Rides

As per usual we have had a number of interesting excursions as a club.

Over and above the fortnightly breakfast rides, weekend one nighters are also very popular and provide an ideal opportunity to break away and get out of town on two wheels with like minded folks.

Some of the longer trips that were undertaken were a one night weekend trip to Lamberts Bay in February, and a longer 4 night outride to Rooiberg in the Klein-Karoo towards the end of April.

A tour for George and pals - September 2005

Annie's picture
Well it finally happened, George, my friend and colleague has finally bought that motorcycle - or is it a case of being introduced to the finest sport of all - riding a 1200 GS. It's not without its curses though. So I was given the task of planning an itinerary for George and his pals to tour the Western Cape and touch the Eastern Cape. These pals are hard, long distance boys. Georgie and I, with partners, will ride together - except that we live in Cape Town and George in Springs, GP No problem. We will meet in the Southern Cape. We will take a leisurely ride to Prince Albert and go from there. "No way!" says George, "you can meet me in Colesburg!"

Sutherland - How cold is it really? September 2005

Annie's picture
'''by René Verhulp''' The question is "Is Sutherland as cold as it is reputed to be?" The BMW Club Cape enjoys two tours per annum: the annual tour, which has been held since the clubs inception, and takes place at the end of October, and the more recently introduced winter tour, which is celebrated during August. This year the elected venue was Sutherland. Why? Don't know, sounded like a good idea at the time and could be a bit different. This is the home of "Going nowhere slowly" - You could meet the stars of this show and of the soapies…we did. There were about 40 confirmed takers, with 3 groups using alternative routes.
