I rode this trip on my GS...SITTING! All the way, does this constitute a new club record?? After Cliff's post on standing up and the advice given,I felt it prudent to sit,I hope Andyman and Corne' will forgive me, but 2x RT riders were seen standing on their pegs.......skande! Cliff did you stand at all? :-)

And this weekend, to top it all, I painted my tappet-covers '''anti-pink'''. The shop did not have 'anti-pink' as such, but the assistant assured me that ''electric blue metallic'' was a synonym. Mr Badger is proud as anything.

Would Mr Badger be interested in a little show and tell?

In our group I was the only RT rider that stood up on the pegs.

But Neil does something which made my tummy constrict every time i saw him doing it .... on passing a vehicle in corner, with the rest of us hot on his tail, he would TURN right around in his saddle , make eye contact with the driver behind him , smile, take his hand of the handlebars and WAVE, this at speeds that don't even register, and whilst leaning so far down he is almost kissing the ground .... well Neil ...always one to test the utmost limits of danger hey? ....:) ''"4 wheels move the body,'' ''2 wheels move the soul"''

I had so much fun in the passes I still cant get the silly grin of my face, had some awesome formation flying with the group. Kudos to Renette! for the way she rode, fast and smooth, well done. Then of course there is the little issue of a lighter centre stand and some marks on the bottom of the panniers of the RT ,OOPS! RIDE, RACE, PLAY! I RIDE THEREFORE I AM!

I concur - the ride is supposed to be 1000miles in 24 hours - the way they're talking they could do it in 10 and have a halfway 2 hour food stop.

I am guilty of standing up on my RT. In fact quite a number of times. I even nearly turned off to do a bit of off road.! Great fun, will do it again, and again, and again. Thanks to Geoff and Brian for all there hard work in putting it together.

Another srirring comment;-).....In Geoff's group...the first few on the far side of the pass had Std. Exhausts, but working gear levers.:-:)....seemed to give the vooma needed!:-) even for Freak. Oh and Geoff rode rather swiftly considering his lack of training!!!!!:-)

Well all that is left to be said is "It was a ride ooooh what a ride it was it surely was such a ride" apologies to the composer for the hijack. Ignore opinions, heed facts. Feet on the pegs, always.

Think before you ink.

On the way out of Oudshoorn on Sunday morning, I must have, in a corner, found a rut or two which caused my rear to move a little, this left me feeling very unsettled, I bounced around whilst riding and also tried looking at the ear tyre because I thought I may have a puncture, sooo the Outeniequa Pass was a very stressful ride, until we stopped. I checked tyre pressure...I left Cape Town on 2.1 bar rear cold...it was now warm and 2.75 bar!!!End of worries the ruts really fiddled my head,... I let Freak pass me in the Outeniequa because of it...was worth it though,to be just behind a red RT with pillion leaned over in the pass was a sight of beauty.... it REALLY stood out, the red contrasting with the light grey road, the green vegetation behind the Armco Barrier and the cliff side on the other.

Now at La Dolce Vita, they really took care of the small details....in the Toilets!..the air freshener in the one was Orange Blossom...for "KTM" Hennie and the other Rose Pink for me...sheez Geoff your trips are amazing, all the fine details.:-) The food was superb but at our table it must have been a Garies waitress as things were a little slow.
